The Camps Drift hot finishing mill has been repaired and re-commissioned, 46 days after the component failure, aluminium producer Hulamin (HLM) said on Monday.

Production of thicker gauge plate and production from the twin roll casters continued during the period and production losses were limited to approximately 25,000 tons.

Available inventory has been processed and the maintenance to the Camps Drift Remelt, which was pulled forward to coincide with the breakdown, has been completed as planned.

The cause of the failure has been identified, and will support the claim in respect of cost of damage and business interruption that has been lodged with the company's insurers, the company noted.

The mill was shut on May 14 and was expected to have been recommisioned by 11 June. - I-Net Bridge
