A LUXURY seaside property linked to Leon Kirkinis, the founder and former chief executive of the collapsed African Bank Investments Limited (Abil), is on sale in the Western Cape for R60 million.

Abil’s annual report names Kirkinis as an executive director of UPbeatprops 167. The property company is listed in municipal documents as the owner of the house on Arctotis Road in Rooi Els near Cape Town.

The beach home has four en-suite bedrooms, a pool, jacuzzi, wine cellar, gym area, underfloor heating and automated timber shutters. The property offers a “combination of luxury living in the heart of nature”, according to the website of Acquire Africa, the estate agent that is selling the house.

Acquire’s founder, Tara Whiting, declined to comment, citing client confidentiality.

Kirkinis, who stepped down on August 6, did not answer a call seeking confirmation.

The house appears to have been on sale since May, according to the Rapport newspaper.

The house has a steel structure and took four years to build, according to architects Elphick Proome. – Bloomberg
