Mediclinic International has expanded its operations in Switzerland, where it generated more than half its revenue in the 2013/14 financial year, by buying another hospital. The private hospital group said on Wednesday that its Hirslanden operation, which operates 14 acute care facilities in Switzerland, had acquired a 100 percent stake in the operating business of Clinique La Colline in Geneva, a multi-disciplinary medical and surgical private hospital. The facility has a significant market share in orthopaedic treatments performed in Geneva. Mediclinic said it would pay Sf130 million (R1.5 billion) for the facility and all conditions had been fulfilled. – Londiwe Buthelezi
