Parliament - Communications Minister Yunus Carrim wants to brief MPs on the contents of a Special Investigating Unit (SIU) report on financial irregularities at the SABC.

In a written reply to a parliamentary question tabled on Tuesday, he called for “an opportunity to brief the portfolio communications committee on the SIU report in a closed briefing”.

Carrim was responding to a question by Congress of the People MP Juli Killian, who was seeking details about the SIU investigation.

“The information that is asked is by nature confidential and may not be disclosed,” Carrim said in his reply.

He did not put a date on the proposed briefing, which is likely to take place only next year, once Parliament resumes.
