MTN shed 0.6 percent to close at R156.94 yesterday as it faced the possibility of another scandal besmirching its name. The Times newspaper reported yesterday that Africa’s biggest cellular network operator was fighting a legal battle in Labour Court instituted by its former senior legal adviser, who was retrenched last year. Violet Magagane claimed she was victimised and retrenched after she reported alleged fraud worth R12 million involving Robert Madzonga, MTN’s chief corporate services officer. A forensic audit was conducted by PwC. MTN said in response to questions: “MTN has instituted disciplinary action against the individuals concerned. This matter is… before a court of law and MTN would like to request time to argue its case in court.” – Asha Speckman
