MURRAY & Roberts (M&R) has renamed its four operating platforms to more accurately describe the target market sectors in which the listed construction and engineering group operates. Group chief executive Henry Laas said on Friday that the renaming formed part of an initiative to reposition M&R and its brand in the minds of shareholders and other stakeholders. Its new operating platforms are Infrastructure & Building, which was previously named Construction Africa and Middle East; Energy & Industrial (previously Engineering Africa); Underground Mining (previously Construction Global Underground Mining); and Oil & Gas (previously Construction Australasia Oil & Gas and Minerals). The group has also renamed some subsidiary companies within the Energy & Industrial operating platform as part of its strategy to ensure they reflect their capabilities to the market and its employees. Murray & Roberts Projects has become Murray & Roberts Power & Energy, Concor Engineering is now Murray & Roberts Resources & Industrial and Wade Walker becomes Murray & Roberts Electrical & Control Systems. – Roy Cokayne
