Mining group Royal Bafokeng Platinum (RBPlat) has for the first time qualified for inclusion on the JSE's Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) Index, it said on Thursday.
“Sustainable development is of particular importance to RBPlat, and in line with our 'more than mining' philosophy,” said CEO Steve Phiri.
“We seek opportunities that create intrinsic value for our stakeholders, empowering them to pursue greater objectives for themselves.”
RBPlat's inclusion on the SRI Index was testament to the progress it had made towards this goal.
The SRI Index tracks the sustainability performance of companies listed on the JSE. Environmental, employee, social and governance issues are included. -Sapa
