Johannesburg - South African diversified miner Exxaro said striking workers at five of its collieries had refused a one-off offer of 2,000 rand ($220) to get them to return to work.

Production at all the affected operations has stopped and the company is seeking an urgent labour court interdict to end the illegal walkout and prevent a prolonged stoppage which could affect South Africa's electricity supplies. - Reuters
