Johannesburg - Teti Traffic Workers who downed tools over a week ago demanding higher wages, have finally handed over a memorandum detailing their demands to the SA National Roads Agency (Sanral).

The workers are contracted to Sanral through Teti Traffic and conduct accident clean-up operations on behalf of the agency.

This morning the employees picketed outside Sanral's offices in Midrand, and have given the company 48 hours to respond to their demands.

Talks between the SA Transport and Allied Workers’ Union (Satawu) and Teti Traffic management at the CCMA (Commission of Conciliation Mediation and Arbitration) were halted and a second attempt to foil the dispute will take place on Friday.

During talks at the commission, the union lowered its demands to 12% increase across the board, 13th cheques, the company will be given until January 2017 to set up a provident fund and will continue to discuss medical aid benefits.

Satawu's Gauteng provincial secretary Gift Ndwandwe demanded that workers should be treated fairly. Sanral’s Gauteng’s operations manager Kwanele Simelane accepted the memorandum and said he will pass it on to the relevant persons.
