Tiger Brands: Grain unit recalls some products

TIGER Brands’s grains division had recalled certain Tastic Simply Delicious products after tests found traces of colourants in them, the company said. “Tastic believes in perfection for every one of its products and that the health of its consumers is paramount,” the company said. “The Simply Delicious range of products is produced in India under the strict control of an internationally renowned flavour house and retested by Tastic in an independent laboratory in South Africa.” Following recent tests, the company was concerned to find traces of the colourants Methyl Yellow and Sudan 1 in certain Simply Delicious products produced in June and July. “These colourants can make food unsafe because of possible toxicity and carcinogenic properties.” Tiger shares lost 0.29 percent to R310.11 yesterday. – Sapa
