New York - Uber Technologies hired Steve Schnell, the former vice president of operations at rival ride-sharing app Lyft, to boost its international footprint.

Schnell and an Uber representative confirmed the hire.

Schnell updated his LinkedIn Corporation profile today with the move to “International Supply Growth” at San Francisco-based Uber.

Lyft and Schnell parted ways in August, as did Travis VanderZanden, who joined Uber earlier this month as vice president of international growth, and Art Henry, who was Lyft’s vice president of data engineering.

The trio joined Lyft last year after the San Francisco- based company bought their startup Cherry.com, an on-demand car-wash service provider.

They left after disagreements with Lyft’s co-founders, Logan Green and John Zimmer, over how the company was being run, people with direct knowledge of the situation said earlier this week. - Bloomberg News
