Johannesburg - Afrikaans daily newspaper Volksblad will continue to operate within the Media24 group, the media company said on Thursday.
“Following speculation about the future of Volksblad, Media24 today (Thursday) confirmed that it reviewed the performance of its news division and decided that all current operations will remain intact,” Media24 said in a statement.
Volksblad is based in Bloemfontein.
According to the Media24 website, Volksblad celebrated its centenary in 2004. It is the oldest Afrikaans daily in the country, and the largest in the Free State and Northern Cape.
Media24 owns various magazines titles and newspapers, such as Beeld, City Press and the Daily Sun.
