Johannesburg - South African diversified miner Exxaro said on Thursday mining operations at its Arnot and Matla mines had been suspended after workers had embarked on an illegal strike over bonus payments.

The mines deliver coal to power stations operated by power utility Eskom.

A prolonged suspension could affect South Africa's already strained supply of electricity. - Reuters
