Air bag fault takes BMW cars off road

Comment on this story

BMW was recalling about 1.6 million cars worldwide to replace passenger-side front air bags made by Takata because they could break apart during deployment and injure passengers, the German car maker said yesterday. The recall affects 3-Series vehicles produced between May 1999 and August 2006. Spokesman Dave Buchko said the recall was a precautionary measure as BMW was not aware of the fault causing any accidents or injuries.
