GHANA had appointed PwC to advise on starting a national airline, Transport Minister Dzifa Attivor said on Monday. A contract would be signed today with PwC, which would “guide in setting up a new airline and choose a private sector partner”, Attivor said. The government wanted the carrier to be up and running by March next year. West Africa’s second-biggest economy has not had a state-owned carrier since Ghana International Airlines stopped operating in 2010. Domestic flights are operated by privately owned airlines, including Antrak Air and Starbow.

Ghana planned to build an international airport in the greater Accra region, Attivor added. The government was in the process of land acquisitions. – Bloomberg
