Hong Kong - Hong Kong shares rose 0.72 percent on Wednesday, following a rally on Wall Street after data showed a strong pick-up in US consumer confidence.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index climbed 155.43 points to 21,887.75 on turnover of HK$73.89 billion (US$9.53 billion).

In China the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index slipped 0.18 percent, or 3.64 points, to 2,063.67 on turnover of 80.5 billion yuan ($13.0 billion).

The Shenzhen Composite Index, which tracks stocks on China's second exchange, rose 0.51 percent, or 5.54 points, to 1,088.86 on turnover of 96.3 billion yuan. - Sapa-AFP
