Japan: Honda jet takes to the skies

Honda’s first business jet had logged its maiden flight ahead of its expected certification and delivery next year, the Japanese company said at the weekend. The 84-minute flight of the first production HondaJet took place on Friday near the headquarters of Honda Aircraft, the aviation unit of the vehicle giant, in Greensboro, North Carolina. The plane, which seats up to five passengers, has a maximum cruise speed of 777km/h and top altitude of 13 100m. Priced at $4.5 million (R48m), it had received more than 100 orders, Japanese media said. – Sapa-AFP
