Sydney - Embattled Australian carrier Qantas' credit rating was downgraded by Moody's to “junk” status Thursday, just weeks after Standard & Poor's took a similar step.

Moody's cited “a sharp deterioration in the company's core domestic business”.

It follows the airline's issuing of a shock profit warning and slashing of jobs in December. - Sapa-AFP
