The facility would be able to produce 1 500 tons of acid daily, Grant Marais, a spokesman for Swakop Uranium, CGNP’s Namibian unit, said oN Tuesday. Sulphuric acid is used to extract metal from ore. The $2 billion (R21bn) Husab started in May and will be able to produce 15 million pounds of uranium a year. “The plant will be ready to produce when the processing plant comes on stream at the end of 2015,” Marais said. – Bloomberg
