US stocks surged on opening Friday, with the Nasdaq leaping nearly two percent, after EU leaders agreed on dramatic policy steps aimed at saving the eurozone.
In the first minutes of trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 167.94 points (1.33 percent) at 12,770.20.
The S&P 500 index gained 19.81 points (1.49 percent) to 1,348.85, while the tech-rich Nasdaq rose 53.33 (1.87 percent) to 2,902.82. - Sapa-AFP
