US stocks fell in early trading Wednesday despite reports from leading Wall Street banks that bested expectations, as Boeing's 787 problems dinged sentiment.

After 15 minutes of trade, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was down 58.28 points (0.43 percent) at 13,476.61.

The broad-based S&P 500 fell 4.08 (0.28 percent) to 1,468.26.

The Nasdaq Composite slipped 2.52 (0.08 percent) to 3,108.26.

The selling came as both JPMorgan Chase and Goldman Sachs reported fourth-quarter profits that bested expectations.

But US aerospace giant and Dow member Boeing fell 4.1 percent following the latest problem with its 787 Dreamliner plane. - Sapa-AFP
