Brazil says it harvested its biggest-ever coffee crop in 2012.

The Agriculture Ministry says in a Thursday statement that the world's biggest coffee producer harvested 50.8 million 60-kilogram bags.

The previous record was set 10 years ago when Brazil harvested 48.5 million bags.

The ministry says the crop could have been even larger had it not been for irregular rainfall and high temperatures in some growing regions. - Sapa-AP
