Johannesburg - South Africa is likely to harvest 12.35 million tonnes of maize in 2013 after reaping 11.83 million tonnes last year, a government agency said on Tuesday.

The maize crop will consist of an estimated 6.75 million tonnes of white maize and 5.6 million tonnes of yellow, the government's Crop Estimates Committee (CEC) said.

The harvest estimate was largely in line with market expectations of 12.34 million tonnes, according to a Reuters poll.

The committee said its estimate of the 2012 wheat crop was unchanged at 1.915 million tonnes. - Reuters
