Johannesburg - South African white corn futures gained the most in more than two weeks by the close on the South African Futures Exchange in Johannesburg.
White corn for delivery in December, the most active contract, rose 0.8 percent to 2,350 rand ($236) a metric ton, the most since September 27 in Johannesburg.
The yellow variety for delivery in the same month gained 0.4 percent to 2,153.20 rand a ton.
South Africa is the continent’s largest producer of the grain.
White corn is a staple food in the country and the yellow variety is mostly fed to animals.
Wheat for delivery in December increased 0.8 percent to 3,455 rand a ton. - Bloomberg News
