Johannesburg - South African stocks notched up a record closing high on Friday with mining shares adding the points to the key index after forecast-beating Chinese trade data soothed fears about the health the global economy.
The benchmark JSE Top 40 index ended 0.57 percent higher at a record close of 36,477.46 points after setting a record 36,568.09 earlier in the session.
