SA’s March CPI slows

Johannesburg - South Africa's headline consumer inflation slowed to 6.3 percent year-on-year in March, in line with forecasts, from 7 percent in February, data from Statistics South Africa showed on Wednesday.

On a month-on-month basis, prices were up 0.8 percent after an increase of 1.4 percent in the previous month.

Core inflation, which excludes the prices of food, non-alcoholic beverages, petrol and energy, was at 5.4 percent year-on-year in March from 5.7 percent in the previous month, and at 0.9 percent month-on-month from 1.4 percent.
