Johannesburg - Members of the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu) arrived at Anglo American Platinum headquarters in Johannesburg early on Tuesday afternoon, where they will hand over a memorandum to the company.

Dressed in green union T-shirts they sang songs expressing the hardships they endured to mine platinum underground.

“Kgale re sotloge ke nako ya gore re bue (We have been suffering this is the time to speak),” they sang in front of Amplats offices.

The workers went on strike on January 23 demanding a basic monthly salary of R12,500.

They rejected the company's offer of nine percent.

Marchers were bussed in from Amplats' mines in Rustenburg, North West, and Limpopo. - Sapa
