Cosatu launches attack on Numsa

The National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) wanted the ANC to lose the election, Cosatu said yesterday. “This cannot be done in the name of Cosatu,” acting general secretary Bheki Ntshalintshali said. He said Numsa was pursuing an agenda aimed at destroying Cosatu, the ANC and the SACP “so that all these formations can be replaced by Numsa and its allies”, he said, adding that as long as Numsa was a Cosatu affiliate it had to abide by its policies. Cosatu has threatened to suspend or expel Numsa and gave it until tomorrow to explain why it should not be expelled or suspended. – Sapa
