Johannesburg - South Africa's weather will remain drier and warmer than usual until the autumn season which begins in April, the South African Weather Service said on Monday.

“It is likely that the country would continue to experience persistently drier and warmer conditions toward the autumn season with a growing uncertainty as we go to the winter season,” the service in its monthly outlook for the weather over the following few months.

A scorching drought has hit South Africa's key maize crop and threatens to drive up food prices and inflation while crimping growth in Africa's most advanced economy.
