Gazprombank, Russia’s third-largest lender, is hunting for a South African to head a planned Johannesburg office that will tap project finance opportunities in the continent’s oil and gas industry. “We’re looking for someone with corporate credit and project finance skills,” Gazprombank deputy chairman Oleg Vaksman said yesterday, declining to name short-listed candidates. “We need local flavour and a chief executive who understands both finance and the public sector,” he said. It hopes to have central bank approval for a licence for the office by year-end. – Bloomberg
