AFRICAN nations plan to send at least 2 000 health-care workers to Ebola-affected countries in West Africa, where the World Bank said thousands more were needed to control an outbreak of the disease. Personnel from countries including Nigeria, Ethiopia and the Democratic Republic of Congo would be deployed “as soon as possible”, AU Commission chairwoman Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma said yesterday. At least 5 000 medical workers were needed to help stop the virus from spreading, World Bank president Jim Yong Kim said at the briefing. “I’m very much worried about where we’ll find those health workers with the fear factor going out of control.” – Bloomberg
