Johannesburg - Water supplies in Johannesburg have worsened due to South Africa’s worst drought in 23 years and increased demand, the city’s council said on Monday.
Residents are urged not to water their gardens between 6am and 6pm.
They were also urged not to fill swimming pools or use hosepipes, City of Johannesburg councillor Matshidiso Mfikoe said in an emailed statement.
Should the situation worsen, the city may implement a so-called Level 3 restriction, which would stop water supplies at certain times of the day, Mfikoe said.
