Johannesburg - South Africa's power utility Eskom said on Monday it had produced electricity for the first time from a new unit at its Medupi station.
In a statement posted via its Twitter feed, Eskom said Medupi Unit 6's full potential of 794 MW would be fed into the South African national grid within the next three months.
