IVANHOE Mines had fully complied with the mining charter requirements after completing a black economic empowerment (BEE) transaction that would benefit 150 000 people in 20 host communities, the Toronto-listed company said on Friday. The communities, employees and local entrepreneurs now owned 26 percent at its Platreef project in Mokopane, Limpopo, the company said. The 20 empowered communities would receive an annual fixed contribution of R11 million while the platinum mine was being developed, Ivanhoe said. – Dineo Faku
