Johannesburg - South Africa's power utility Eskom is not planning any load shedding this winter as it would conduct only limited maintenance, its acting CEO Brian Molefe was quoted as saying on the firm's Twitter account on Friday.

Earlier on Thursday, Eskom said that Unit 6 of its coal-fired Medupi plant had produced 800 megawatts of electricity this week, improving power supply.

Molefe was also quoted as saying that Unit 1 at the Koeberg nuclear power station outside Cape Town would be returned to service this weekend after a three-month planned shutdown for refuelling.
