SA March factory output up

Johannesburg - Growth in South Africa's manufacturing output slowed to 0.7 percent year-on-year in volume terms in March after a revised 1.5 percent growth in February, Statistics South Africa said on Thursday.

On a month-on-month basis, factory production fell 1.9 percent and was down 1.6 percent in the three months to March, compared with the previous three months.

Economists polled by Reuters had expected year-on-year growth of 2.5 percent for March while factory output was seen down 1 percent on a month-on-month basis. - Reuters
