SA's credit growth at 8.74%

Johannesburg - Growth in credit demand from South Africa's private sector was little changed at 8.74 percent year-on-year in September from 8.78 percent in August, central bank data showed on Wednesday.

The broadly defined M3 measure of money supply however expanded at a faster rate of 7.85 percent year-on-year compared with August's 6.41 percent.

Economists surveyed by Reuters had expected year-on-year credit growth of 8.6 percent for September, while money supply was seen increasing by 6.5 percent. - Reuters
