Johannesburg - South Africa's manufacturing output rose 1.5 percent year-on-year in volume terms in October from a 3.3 percent contraction in September, Statistics South Africa said on Tuesday.
On a month-on-month basis, factory production surged 6.9 percent but dropped 2.5 percent in the three months to October compared with the preceding period.
Economists polled by Reuters had expected a year-on-year contraction of 2.1 percent and growth of 2 percent on a month on month basis. - Reuters
