Ever helped yourself to a cup of tea without offering one to your colleagues?

Losing a few friends in the office may not be the only cost. Selfish tea drinkers in the UK are running up bills of £32 million (R441.7m) a year for their employers, according to a report.

The research found that more than a third of employees in small firms do not bother with communal tea rounds and prefer to boil the kettle only for themselves. Staff in the hospitality and education sectors are most likely to be guilty of solo tea-making, with workers in retail and manufacturing not far behind.

And those who regularly ignore tea-run etiquette are costing companies an extra £31.8m in electricity charges every year. – Daily Mail
