Cape Town – Eskom on Monday announced it would implement stage 1 load shedding from 4pm, followed an hour later by stage 2 loadshedding.

“Eskom will implement stage 1 load shedding at 16:00 and then move to stage 2 at 17:00 until 22:00 this evening,” Eskom said in a statement. “This is due to a shortage of generating capacity as several units are currently out of service due to maintenance.”

Eskom called on South Africans to reduce the demand on electricity by “urgently switching off geysers, air conditioners, pool pumps and all non-essential appliances throughout the day”.
