A R500 million revamp of The Zone@Rosebank, one of Johannesburg’s trendiest lifestyle destinations, has commenced.

The revamp follows Old Mutual Life Assurance, the owner of The Zone@Rosebank, investing over the past few years in the redevelopment of this vibrant precinct in Rosebank and in 2011 completing Cradock Square.

Listed property fund Hyprop last year also completed its R920m redevelopment of the Rosebank Mall.

Situated between Cradock Avenue and Oxford Road, The Zone@Rosebank comprises five buildings with two levels of retail space, a hotel and a two storey office tower complex. It is well established as a shopping, dining and nightlife destination for a broad cross-section of people in Johannesburg and has five levels of underground parking.

The Zone@Rosebank’s appeal to the youth is driven by fashion, footwear and beauty, with tenants including Diesel, Guess, Forever New, Sissy Boy, YDE, Space, Republik, Big Blue, Sunglass Hut, Sorbet, MAC Cosmetics, Africology Urban Spa and Carlton Hair.

On the entertainment front, The Fun Company offers family entertainment while the first level accommodates Ster Kinekor, including the first Cine Prestige to launch in Gauteng.

Existing tenants Wakaberry, Spur and Mike’s Kitchen will be complemented by a mix of new tenants, including Panarottis, Jimmy’s Killer Prawns, Simply Asia and Haagen Dazs.

New anchor tenants on the ground floor will include a more than 3 500m² Super Spar and Viva Gym and are expected to open their doors to the public in early September.
