Two killed in blast at Harmony’s Joel mine

Harmony Gold (HAR) confirmed on Thursday that two contract workers had been killed in an underground explosion at its Joel mine near Theunissen in the Free State on Wednesday afternoon.

Two other workers were injured in the accident and were both in a stable condition.

“Investigations are currently underway to establish the cause of the explosion. All drilling and blasting operations at the mine have been stopped until investigations have been completed‚” Harmony said. - I-Net Bridge
