Cape Town - A child of 11 years old was the only victim of a fire that destroyed two informal dwellings in the N2 Gateway settlement in Delft.
Fire services responded to the fire just after 9am on Wednesday morning.
"Two informal structures were destroyed in the fire (two persons displaced)," the fire department's Theo Layne said. "Two fire engines, one water tanker and a rescue vehicle tended to the fire.
"Fourteen firefighters tended to the blaze. There was only one fatality, an 11-year-old child. No other injuries," he said.
The cause of the fire was as yet undetermined.
