The 5th edition of the Cape Town Art Fair (CTAF) was hosted at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) at the weekend.

It showcases a diversity of work that represents the forefront of contemporary art from Africa to the world, and the world to Cape Town.

Positioned as the leading art fair in Africa, CTAF 2017 included the foremost galleries from South Africa, the African continent, and abroad. Cape Town Art Fair’s curated programme was guided by the newly appointed Tumelo Mosaka. The 5th edition of the fair also introduced the Unframed section, which exhibited large-scale, museum-quality sculptures and new media installations.

The fair also presented solo presentations by some of the most exciting emerging artists from Africa and the diaspora.

“With each year, the fair has gained considerable momentum, which has generated respect and prestige for the city of Cape Town as a major contemporary art destination. This is an exciting moment for art, not just in South Africa but globally,” Mosaka said. - Staff Writer
