The popular Vortex trance party Phoenix Festival of Fire was held at Riviersonderend at the weekend.
Every year, more or less around the winter solstice, a Vortex gathering takes place. The destination is a forest, on a secluded farm, in the shadow of the picturesque Riviersonderend mountains.
The three-day gathering is a celebration of the change of season, complete with bonfires and fire-dancers.
This year’s festival took place from June 23-25.
