GOT plans for the weekend? You might be wise to opt for the duvet, a crackling fire and a good supply of something to warm the cockles.
The SA Weather Service’s forecast lays it out straight for the Western Cape: strong, gale-force winds, very cold, heavy rainfall and in the coastal areas rough seas.
It will cloud over on Friday, and there is a 100% chance of rain on Saturday and 80% chance on Sunday. Temperatures will be between 8 and 12°C on Saturday and 7 and 14°C on Sunday.
Hold on to your hats on Saturday, when the north-wester will blow between 45km/h and 65km/h in Cape Town, and reach a wild 75km/h at Agulhas.
The real breath-taker is Windguru’s forecast for swells in Cape Town: starting at 6m early on Saturday morning, the swell is expected to increase during the day to a whopping 9.8m by Saturday evening, and stay around 8m on Sunday morning.
The weather office says there are unlikely to be any further snowfalls across the country, but temperatures will be cold in most of the provinces.
