As Capetonians and tourists stroll along the Sea Point promenade, they stop to view Soft Walls, a photographic exhibition which "seeks to deal with convivial relationships between migrated African nationals and South Africans". Soft Walls is a series of images from Sydelle Willow Smith, the recipient of Gisele Wulfsohn mentorship in photography programme. Smith said she wanted to focus on people living together across nationality lines. While she wears different hats - those of journalist, anthropologist and artist - she says she is inherently interested in stories of hope.
