THE people’s team, Brazil, may have suffered the humiliation of losing 7-1 to Germany in their semi-final, but after four fantastic weeks the stage is set for the much-anticipated World Cup final between the Germans and Lionel Messi’s Argentina at the majestic Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday.

We caught up with some of celebrities to see which flag they will be flying during football’s grand finale.

AB de Villiers@ABdeVilliers17 (Proteas ODI captain): I’ve got a bit of German blood in me from my mother’s side, so I’m going for a 2-1 victory to Germany. I also like that they play as a team, selfless football!

Joey Rasdien@joeyrasdien (comedian): Boeta, I’m telling you these Germans are dangerous hey! Look what they did to Brazil. But it’s not going to be so easy against Argentina, that guy (Javier) Mascherano is tough. He will tackle all day. But I still think Germany has what it takes. You want a score? 3-1 with Messi getting a consolation goal.

JP Duminy@jpduminy21(Proteas batsman): I’m always the guy who backs the underdog... a fan of the little guy. So, I’m going to go with that little guy Lionel Messi and Argentina. Not sure about the score, but the margin will be just one goal. It’s going to be a tight game.

Candice Boucher(supermodel): I think it’s going to be quite a match. Both teams have done really well to get to the final, but after Germany’s impressive win over Brazil, I’ll go 2-1 to Germany.

Moeneeb Josephs(Bafana Bafana goalkeeper) said: Lionel Messi has really led his country well, performing under pressure and taking responsibility to drive his team forward. My player of the tournament. However, I don’t think he can single-handedly beat a very well-organised German team. 3-1 to Germany!
