A school bus overturned leaving 31 children injured on the R44 outside Stellenbosch on Tuesday, paramedics confirmed.
ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing said out of the 31, two children were critically injured and one was in a serious condition.
“One of the critically injured patients, a boy, was found with his hand pinned beneath the bus. Fire and Rescue Services extricated him from under the bus.”
Bodasing said the boy was airlifted to hospital.
She said other children were treated and transported to local hospitals..
The cause of the accident was unknown.
