THE iconic Table Mountain, V&A Waterfront, Signal Hill and Table Bay harbour are among landmarks to be reconstructed on a miniature scale, which will be on display at the Wild Clover Farm in Stellenbosch in January.

The display, Mini Town, will showcase over 200 Cape buildings, small homes and landmarks, along with moving trains, cars, boats and cable cars, said manager Luke Shadrach.

“People will see Table Mountain, they will recognise some of Cape Town’s most famous buildings, the stadium, the Bo-Kaap, the centre of Cape Town, Groote Schuur Hospital, just laid out on a minor scale. It will be like seeing a bird’s eyeview of Cape Town,” Shadrach said.

He said a dedicated team of 10 has been working on the model in their studio in Blackheath for a year, making sure the designs reflected the real-life counterparts. It will be nearly 1 000m².

Mini Town was made of Foamalux, an 85 percent biodegradable material, Shadrach said.

“There will be a market surrounding the model. It can be part of a family outing,” he said.

There will be a dedicated play area for children with swings and slides, as well as an amphitheatre which will host puppet shows, productions and entertainment.

A separate private party area will also be available to hire.

“We hope this will become a permanent display on weekends and during the school holidays.”
